Great game to watch last night. It looked like Guthrie took El Reno a little lightly and it almost came back to haunt them. I have to say that I played in that gym 3 years straight as a part of the visiting team and the officiating was never kind. It doesnt take a genius to realize that there were some pretty suspect calls at some pretty crucial parts of this game. The implications of El Reno losing could possibly cost them a regional site. Just a shame that the officials determined the outcome and not the kids. Anyhow, no disrespect to Guthrie, they're one of the best teams in the state. Thanks and good luck the rest of the year......

I know that I did'nt expect El Reno to give the Jays such a good game. They played hard. WTG. I'm not real sure about any suspect calls. I suspect calls every time that I go to a game. I think my problem is that i don't know the rules as well as I should. Guthrie is in a little of a slump right now, but when they get back to what they do it will be fun to watch.

The Jays did not seem ready to go Thursday night, but give El Reno a lot of credit for part of that. It seems every team goes through a stage of the season where they do not play to their ability: Boston Celtics, North Carolina just for two examples. I thought Carolina may lose one game all year at worse.
There were some tough calls last night for both teams, I thought. I watched the game with Craig Fleck and it seemed we were talking about a few calls in the game, but really don't think they decided the game either way.
Soonerspartan, still some time for the Indians to claim a regional. The only certain thing is it appears Guthrie and Carl Albert will be hosting at this time.

If the Guthrie loss did not cost El Reno hosting a regional then losing to Deer Creek (4-13) the following night did, but the only difference between a 4 seed and a 5 seed is home court advantage.
Having said that Ardmore has been fading and that might save El Reno from being the fourth team to host a regional. Guthrie, Carl Albert, and Northwest seem to have the top three spots on the West side at this time.

I was reading the El Reno newspaper and this was the first paragraph: Despite jeers from unruly Guthrie fans, El Reno High School's boys basketball team played the top-ranked Bluejays to the wire in a 71-59 loss in the Class 5A West Area I Championship.
Does anyone know what the writer meant by that?

fans got after refs about 5 min. mark in the 4th qtr and the kids on the north end were getting after it like HS kids do. I don't think anything was bad

Webster's defines unruly as: "noisy and lacking in restraint or discipline; "a boisterous crowd"; "a social gathering that became rambunctious and out of hand"
That's total BS.... Funny though.

The Reno is becoming one of those 5A schools I don't like. 1st the have football home coming for us. Are you kidding me? The Jays are not you home coming game. I didn't care for their crowd in Edmond last week. You would think they might beat us once before they act like they are a rival.
